The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) reached out for a redesign of their flagship journal, Pediatrics®, but were hesitant to make a huge change because their members were very traditional, and the journal was highly respected.

I reviewed focus group results and, along with my team, brainstormed solutions including color coding the sections. The finished product was a huge success, with members reaching out to share their praise.

The redesign won two awards from the Software & Information Industry Association’s EXCEL Awards:
Gold in Journals: Most Improved, and Silver in Journals: Design Excellence.

10 years after the initial redesign we updated the cover layout, resulting in additional positive feedback. Due to the success of Pediatrics, AAP continued to reach out for journal rebrands (winning yet another award for Hospital Pediatrics®), logo design, and many other projects over 13 years.
